Fuckfuckfuckfuck

Trainer's Notes; Extended addition.
Okay. So. Shit's been happening. My holiday ran long, and I've come back to a literally impossible amount of compulsory school work. On top of this work I'm supposed to do, I have to go visit Anuan the Brave, find a house in which to put myself, get a job, and attempt not to replace sleep with coffee like I'm about to do right now. Life is..getting crazy. I will update as damn well often as I can, and I really want to get this going properly, but with things the way they currently are, that's getting nearly impossible.

Sorry.

Anuan the Brave

If there’s one thing I adore, it’s sunshine. Sunshine, and grass. The path between the National Park and Ecruteak had lots of both. It was a nice change from those God-forsaken ruins. I took a break, rolling amongst the grass and relaxing happily when I heard Kitty calling.

“Maurice! Maurice, come quickly!” She cried. “There’s a puppy here, Maurice!”

This sounded off, but I know Kitty can be a bit…well, off. So I went to her, and indeed, there was a growlithe there, playing with her. I went to her heels, but when he saw me, he went into a play-bow and gave a silly growl. He was trying to show off to Kitty, and it worked. She picked him right up. “You’re coming with me!” She squealed happily.

The growlithe looked overexcited and jumped out of her arms, flailing around  happily.

“Hi!” He greeted me, bowing down again and letting a little puff of smoke. “I’m Anuan! What’s your name?”

“Uh…Maurice?” I’m not used to dealing with such…perkiness from anyone other than Kitty. She and this creature would become fast friends in the days to come, but especially on the day when we headed over to Mahogany Town after an anticlimactic win at the Cianwood city gym. Akela went away - Kitty told us he had to go do something, and I’m not sure what - and Anuan was brought in. He flitted about and played among the grass and insects in front of us.

All of a sudden, a man, dressed in black, came past and grabbed me up. I struggled and shouted but the man was trying to steal me away. I recognised the uniform - we had faced such people before, most notably in the Slowpoke Well. Such "defilations of cuteness" (as she had called it) put Kitty in such a rage that she beat them all senseless with her bare hands.

Kitty gave a loud and upset cry. “Maurice! You put him down you….you…you…doodle!”

If that insult was an omen as to what would happen, I would not get out of this tight spot. Kitty tried to send Naoki after me, but the man attacked with a raticate - a creature she had seen take off a man’s face. She couldn’t get to me, and the man’s rubber gloves meant that I couldn’t shock him.

Anuan kicked into action - he leapt forward and attacked, mouth flaming. He dodged the monster rat and sunk his fangs into the man’s let. The man yelped and dropped me, and I knocked out his pokemon. With a cry, and a rock to the head from Kitty, the odd man disappeared off and I ran back. Kitty picked me up and held me, kissing my head, before kneeling and holding Anuan.

“You’re so brave!” She cried. She gripped us both. “I was so scared…”

She didn’t let go for a long, long time.

Maurice Mareep vs. The World(?)

I don’t like caves. I really, really don’t like caves. Or…ruins. If you must be fancy.
Not only did we get lost in there for several days? We got separated, and assaulted by strange, strange floating creatures.

I ran through the caves, trying to get out, trying to find Kitty, trying to hide. But always, they were there. More frightening than zubats. More numerous than them. I know. I didn't think it was possible either. Everywhere. Humming. Chanting. Stalking me at every turn. I tried to fight them, but my attacks simply exhausted me. I was hungry, and haggard, and lost, and lonely. They haunted me, waiting for me to drop and die. Vultures.

What about Kitty?! How could she be handling this? Rose and Naoki were with her, although Rose is less than helpful. Naoki would take good care of her, as he always does, I’m sure.

So I tried to find a little nook or cranny to hide, and there, in front of me - a doorway. I bolted outside, but found myself in a little clearing, with a pond out in front of me. There was a creek, running down the rocks and into the pond.

Oh, bugger.

I just sat myself down. I was distraught. Would I never get out? Would I never escape?

I heard some rocks falling and I looked up. Amongst the rocks covered in moss and vine, beside the small waterfall of the creek, was Akela. The moonlight made him shine, sleek and ready for anything.

Akela is probably the one creature I look up to the most. Sly, foreign - from a place he called Emeraldeyal - he always gave the best advice. He came to be with us as an eevee, voracious and full of energy. Kitty’s night-time wanderings with he and I made him happy - and made him evolve. He was full of wisdom, even when he was unevolved, and told me stories of when he was “back home” with his sister. He loves his sister, clearly, and his many brothers.

He approached me through the moonlight, slinking. “Maurice, m’lad.” He greeted. “You look sad, what’s wrong?”

“Don’t you realise? We’re lost. Where’s Kitty? Do you know?” I was too upset not to be rude by this point.

“Kitty’s fine. She was rescued about a half-hour ago. Come on, lad. Let’s get you out of here.” He came down and licked my head softly, preening at me. He was quite affectionate when he wanted to be.

I followed his glowing, golden rings over the rocks and then - we were out. Out of that place. Free. There was Kitty, wrist bandaged, with Arabella at her side (delicately licking her paw) and Naoki, who was very happy to see us. She ran over to put her arms around me.

“Maurice!” She cried. “I was so frightened! Are you okay?”

Yes, I’m okay, Kitty.

Please.

No more caves.

Enter Rose - Sly, Smart and Fabulous.

It was quite the walk to Union Cave, but I don’t mind. I don’t think Kitty minds much. She hums when she walks, everywhere. Sometimes, I just like to listen to her.

We stopped for lunch today in Azalea town, and while Kitty ate, we all went for a wander, in different directions. I headed off into the forest for a little explore.

I found myself in view of Ilex Shrine. I stared for a little while, sitting in the lovely shade, and a peculiar pokemon came into view. It was green, and had little wings. It flittered around the little wooden building, before spotting me and flying off. I could hear Kitty calling me, so I quickly went to join her. Her egg was hatching.

Before we had left Ecruteak, Arabella had gone away in storage to make room for Claude.  Claude was a friendly girl, and she’s who the little newborn togepi first waddled over to. The little round creature gently ran her little hands over the crab’s big claws. Overjoyed, Kitty named the little baby Aly, and we all set off to Union Cave.

Let me say this: I don’t like Union Cave. It’s cold, and damp, and generally eerie. While Kitty is utterly fascinated by zubats and other creepy-crawlies, I am less than fond of them.

I sat in Kitty’s lap as she balanced on the barrel, towed by Claude, over a little pond and down a ladder (what I want to know is, who installs these?). We went into a cavern and over another patch of water - and a large creature came into view.

He was floating in a little cave off to the side - a long-necked blue creature with a lilac shell. His eyes were beautiful, deep blue as he looked over his shoulder at me and Kitty.

“Well, hello!” He purred softly. Poor Kitty couldn’t understand him, but most of the time, we couldn’t understand her either. He turned around to face us. “Aren’t you two the sweetest things ever?”

“What a pretty, pretty lapras!” Kitty squealed, starry-eyed as usual. “Quickly - Maurice, you have to use your thundershock attack!”

The lapras seemed less than surprised, and simply let himself be captured. Kitty quickly headed back to town and put Aly and Claude away - she couldn’t put one without the other, since Claude had immediately adopted the baby - and withdrew both Arabella, and Rose, our new compatriot.

Rose might have been a strange name for a male lapras, but…suits him, for sure. There is something so sly about him.

We took a quicker way back. through Union Cave and to the Ruins of Alph, where Rose’s personality really started to come out. While Kitty was exploring the ponds and outer caverns, I spoke with him as he relaxed in the water.

“Why  is it you let us capture you?” I asked him.

He looked at me, lowering his head close to mine. I backed off a little.

“Because,” he told me. “That little girl of yours is just so…curious. I took a liking to her.” I felt like I was under scrutiny from him. His blue eyes stared into mine, and I could nearly see all the thoughts processing in his mind. “She does not think, and is naïve. Like that quilava of hers, what’s his name?”

“Naoki.” I replied. I was trying to keep my nerve- not easy when a large marine monster was leering down at me.

“Ah yes.” He pulled his head back, looking at me still. “Here he comes now, in fact.”

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. Or, Naoki, in this case. He was as delightful and chipper as always.

“Come on, we have to get going! It’s getting dark!” He was excited. New challenges always excite Naoki.

“Where are we going..?” I asked, a little confused.

Kitty just came running over, returning Rose to his ball. “Come on! I’ve found this hole, and there are weird noses coming from inside. We need to go check it out!”

I’ll record the rest of this adventure when we come out the other side.

….if we come out the other side…

[TRAINER'S NOTES: Don't worry, Maurice. I'm sure we'll be fine. I think I hear some zubats up ahead! 8D]

Sunday, 8 August 2010

Hello, world.

This is a journal of my adventures, from when I met a strange, enigmatic girl and her baby fire-badger, up until…well, I don’t know. I haven’t gotten there yet. I know that I will travel far and wide, see the wonders of the region, and perhaps beyond.

My name is Maurice. I am two feet tall, my skin is blue and I have yellow wool - just a general, run-of-the-mill mareep. There was nothing special about me, until the day Kitty came across me, just outside of the human settlement of Violet City. She was a bizarre girl, a new trainer, in a long black dress, a parasol and purple hair. As soon as she laid eyes on me, she made me her new favourite pet.

She was a new trainer, only having left home that morning. Her first pokemon was a naïve cyndaquil by the name of Naoki. He was happy to welcome a new friend. That was about six weeks ago.

August 8th

Kitty lavishes attention on me. She loves walking with me, and she and I have conquered some small feats that she herself was rather proud of (although they confused me - her obsession for the smaller, furrier creatures was perplexing to say the least), and we made some interesting new friends along the way, up until where I am recording from now - Ecruteak City gym. I stood at Kitty’s ankles. I was a little frightened, but I tried to put on a brave face. The other five members of our team are near-permanent.

Naoki, having evolved into a quilava shortly after he and I met. He and I are close allies.
Akela, an umbreon who has become my mentor and hero. “You’re not impossible,” he told me. “You’re just a bit unlikely.”
Arabella, a beautiful ninetails who is as intelligent as she was strong.
Arias, a pidgeotto, fierce and proud, but she cares about us enough.
Lastly, a pokemon egg, the contents unknown.

Kitty was tense. She was always nervous before gym battles. She wasn’t quite sure how she was going to pull through this one, but I licked her hand, and that seemed to placate the girl some.

As it turns out, Naoki and Akela floored the leader alone, leaving me simply to cheer from the sidelines as Naoki somehow managed to chew on a gengar. Kitty was very pleased about such a happening, and exclaimed;

“Now I can use Surf!”

This perplexes me, and reminds me of back in Ilex forest. We saw a boy, hopelessly trying to direct a farfetch’d to cut a small tree blocking the way. The bird rolled its eyes and ignored the boy. A few hours later, he came back, with that odd, patterned piece of metal (Kitty calls it a badge) and the bird obeyed for some reason unexplained to me.

Regardless of the logic behind this, Kitty immediately went to catch herself a swimming monster. She caught a quiet little krabby named Claude, and after… “borrowing” a barrel from a construction site around the corner, and teaching him the “surf technique”, we were backtracking to a cave between Violet City and Azalea Town, which Kitty called “Union Cave”.

Of course, this meant camping in Ilex Forest for tonight. Kitty, Naoki and I huddled up together to sleep.

“Goodnight, Maurice.” Kitty murmurs. “I love you…”
